About the Role

An excellent locum opportunity is available for a Qualified Social Worker to join the Children Looked After Team at East Riding of Yorkshire Council. Based at Beverley Children's Centre, this role involves supporting children and young people in care up to the age of 16.

The CLA team works to promote stability, permanency, and improved outcomes for looked-after children through comprehensive care planning and direct work. You will join a supportive and well-established team committed to delivering high-quality, child-centred services.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of looked-after children in accordance with statutory guidelines

  • Build and maintain strong, consistent relationships with children and carers

  • Attend and contribute to statutory reviews, PEPs, and LAC health assessments

  • Undertake direct work to support children's emotional well-being and placement stability

  • Produce high-quality reports and maintain clear, concise records

  • Ensure care plans are tailored to meet each child's individual needs

  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals to ensure positive outcomes

  • Comply with all safeguarding protocols and legislative requirements


Requirements

  • Social Work qualification (BA/MA Social Work, DipSW or equivalent)

  • Registration with Social Work England

  • Post-qualification experience within a Children Looked After or statutory children's services team

  • Sound understanding of the Children Act 1989 and relevant CLA legislation

  • Clear, confident communication and strong report-writing skills

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)

  • Car driver with access to a vehicle is preferred (for visits)
