About Pathfinder

Pathfinder is an innovative approach designed to improve family justice by keeping children at the heart of all decisions. It promotes multi-agency collaboration-working closely with local authorities, domestic abuse organisations, mediation services, and others-to support early dispute resolution, reducing the need for court hearings and easing the judicial process.

This model empowers Cafcass and partner agencies to begin assessments promptly, enabling early information gathering through Child Impact Assessments. For cases involving domestic abuse, Pathfinder includes specialist risk assessments and support via Independent Domestic Violence Advisors (IDVAs).
