About the Role:

The successful candidate will champion quality standards in safeguarding practice across the service and work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the team of IROs, ensuring compliance with statutory duties and best practice.
* Provide challenge and support to operational teams and escalate concerns to senior leadership and CAFCASS when required.
* Oversee and implement the council's quality assurance framework, including audit planning and thematic reviews.
* Lead the LADO function and contribute to safeguarding partnership boards.
* Drive the implementation of the Signs of Safety model across services.
* Deliver analysis and insight that directly influences service planning and strategy.

Essential Criteria:
* Qualified Social Worker (CQSW, DipSW or equivalent)
* HCPC/SWE registered
* Extensive experience in children's safeguarding, child protection, and cared-for children.
* Proven leadership and performance management experience.
* Strong knowledge of statutory and legislative frameworks (e.g., WTSC 2018, Public Law Outline).
* Strategic thinking and the ability to influence service improvement at a senior level.

Desirable:
* Prior experience as a Designated Officer or within Quality Assurance
* Management qualification
* Knowledge of the socio-economic environment in Cheshire East

Knowledge of national safeguarding legislation and experience applying Working Together to Safeguard Children

Experience working at both operational and strategic levels across multi-agency environments

Proven experience in offering safeguarding guidance and resolving inter-agency disputes

Strong understanding of safer recruitment and managing allegations policies

Desirable:

Management qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 4 or equivalent)

Previous LADO experience or experience at senior safeguarding level

Experience in performance reporting and strategic development
