About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of Central Bedfordshire's Families First model, where Social Workers support children from assessment through to long-term intervention, enabling you to build meaningful relationships and create lasting change.

You will work across Child in Need, Child Protection, and Court work, delivering high-quality, child-centred practice and ensuring families receive the right support at the right time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse caseload of children and families
  • Complete Child & Family Assessments and statutory visits
  • Undertake direct work with children to understand their lived experiences
  • Lead and participate in multi-agency meetings
  • Deliver effective Child in Need and Child Protection plans
  • Prepare high-quality court reports and statements
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies to safeguard children
  • Contribute to reducing the number of children entering care

Location & Working Pattern

  • Hybrid working - mix of home working and office-based
  • Offices include Priory House (Shefford) and Grove View (Dunstable)
  • Attendance at office required as per service needs
  • Full-time - 37 hours per week

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Minimum 5 years post-qualified experience in UK Children's Social Care
  • Social Work England registration
  • Strong experience in Child Protection, Child in Need, and Court Work
  • Proven ability to manage a complex caseload
  • Experience chairing multi-agency meetings
  • Excellent assessment and report writing skills
  • Strong communication skills with children, families, and professionals
  • A passion for delivering high-quality outcomes for children

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with 5+ years PQE in a UK Local Authority
  • Social Work England registration
  • Court experience is essential
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
