Are you an experienced Social Worker looking for your next locum opportunity within a supportive and well-structured safeguarding service?
Peterborough City Council is currently recruiting for a Social Worker to join their Family Safeguarding Team, based at Sand Martin House, offering flexible hybrid working and a competitive capped rate.
About the Role
This is a frontline safeguarding role where you will manage a varied caseload across Section 17 (Child in Need) and Section 47 (Child Protection), including cases in pre-proceedings and active care proceedings.
You will play a key role in safeguarding children and supporting families to achieve positive, sustainable outcomes while ensuring children's lived experiences remain central to all interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of S17 (CIN) and S47 (Child Protection) cases
- Work with families involved in pre-proceedings and care proceedings
- Complete statutory visits in line with departmental guidelines
- Undertake risk assessments and safeguarding interventions
- Promote the best interests and lived experiences of children
- Prepare high-quality reports for court and conferences
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals
- Ensure accurate and timely case recording and compliance

Location & Working Pattern

Essential Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with 3+ years PQE in UK Local Authorities
- Social Work England registration
- Experience in Child in Need (S17) and Child Protection (S47)
- Experience working with pre-proceedings and care proceedings
- Strong assessment, safeguarding, and report writing skills
- Ability to travel locally and manage visits effectively
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
