Central Bedfordshire Council is currently recruiting for an experienced Supervising & Assessing Social Worker to join their well-established Fostering Service on a hybrid working basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Social Worker looking to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and families by supporting foster carers and helping children thrive in safe, stable, and nurturing homes.
The Role
As a Supervising Social Worker within the Fostering Team, you will play a key role in supporting and supervising mainstream foster carers, ensuring they have the guidance, training, and professional support needed to provide high-quality care.
You will also take responsibility for leading foster carers' annual reviews, preparing detailed reports for fostering panels, and working closely with children's social workers and partner agencies to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people.
This role offers manageable caseloads, strong management support, and the opportunity to work within a high-performing and supportive fostering service.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support mainstream foster carers
- Complete foster carer annual reviews
- Prepare high-quality reports for fostering panels
- Provide advice, guidance, and training to foster carers
- Work collaboratively with children's social workers and partner agencies
- Contribute to care planning and permanency planning
- Promote positive outcomes for children in foster care
- Maintain accurate case records and use IT systems effectively
Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker
- Social Work England registration
- Minimum 3+ years post-qualified experience preferred
- Strong statutory social work experience
- Previous fostering experience desirable
- Excellent report writing and communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities under pressure
- Full UK driving licence preferred
