We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Locum Social Worker to join a busy Front Door (Referral & Assessment) team in North West London.

This is a fast-paced environment where you will play a critical role in safeguarding children and supporting families at the first point of contact.

You will be responsible for screening referrals, undertaking timely assessments, and making informed decisions to ensure the safety and well-being of children in line with statutory duties and best practice.

Key Responsibilities

Manage incoming referrals and determine appropriate thresholds for intervention.
Undertake Child and Family Assessments within statutory timescales.
Conduct Section 47 enquiries where required.
Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners including health, education, and police
Develop and implement effective plans to safeguard children.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records.
Attend strategy meetings, case conferences, and court proceedings as necessary

Essential Requirements

Candidates must meet the Department for Education (DfE) requirements for qualified social workers:

Qualified Social Worker with a recognised social work qualification (BA/MA Social Work or equivalent)
Registered with Social Work England
Completed Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE)
Minimum of 3 years post-qualification permanent experience in children's services
Demonstrable experience within a Referral & Assessment / Front Door team

Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 & 2004
Up-to-date safeguarding training
Enhanced DBS check (on the Update Service preferred)
Skills & Competencies
Excellent assessment and analytical skills
Ability to make sound decisions under pressure
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Effective time management and ability to prioritise workload
Confident in working within a high-volume, fast-paced environment
