About the Role

Lancashire County Council is looking for an experienced and proactive Qualified Social Worker to join its Duty & Assessment Team (North) based in Fleetwood.

This is a fast-paced frontline role where you will be responsible for responding to new referrals, undertaking timely assessments, and making informed decisions to safeguard children across the Fylde and Wyre areas.

You will play a key role in ensuring children and families receive the right support at the right time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete Child & Family Assessments in line with statutory requirements
    * Respond to safeguarding concerns and referrals in a timely manner
    * Undertake Section 47 investigations where required
    * Assess risk and determine thresholds for intervention and support
    * Develop and recommend appropriate care plans and packages of support
    * Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to safeguard children
    * Maintain accurate and up-to-date case recordings and reports
    * Manage a varied caseload within a fast-paced Duty environment

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
    * Experience within Duty & Assessment / Frontline Children's Services
    * Strong knowledge of safeguarding, thresholds, and statutory frameworks
    * Experience completing Child & Family Assessments and Section 47 enquiries
    * Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced team
    * Excellent assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills
    * Strong communication and partnership-working abilities
