Sefton is seeking a dedicated and experienced Independent Reviewing Officer (Safeguarding & Quality Assurance) to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the safeguarding of vulnerable children and young people while ensuring high standards of practice within our local authority. The position is available at a competitive rate of £40.00 per hour on an Umbrella Company basis.

As an Independent Reviewing Officer, you will be responsible for leading and facilitating the review process for children in care, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and promoting the voice of the child. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting independent reviews of care plans and placements, ensuring they meet the needs of children and young people.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of safeguarding practices within the local authority.
  • Collaborating with social workers, foster carers, and other professionals to promote best practice.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance on safeguarding matters to colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Preparing and presenting reports for review meetings and contributing to quality assurance frameworks.

The ideal candidate will possess essential qualifications and skills, including a Degree in Social Work, a valid Social Work registration, and significant experience in child protection and safeguarding roles. Additional qualifications in management or leadership will be advantageous. You will also need to demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • A thorough understanding of relevant legislation and policies.
