Manchester - Social Worker - Locality Team

Manchester City Council is currently looking for experienced Social Workers to join their Locality Team.


Pay Rate: £35.00 per hour (Umbrella)
Location: Longsight District Office, 523 Stockport Road

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of children, young people, and families requiring statutory intervention, including Child in Need, Child Protection, and Children Looked After cases.
  • Undertake assessments, care planning, and reviews to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
  • Work directly with children and families to identify risks, strengths, and support needs, ensuring child-centred practice.
  • Lead and contribute to pre-proceedings work in line with the Public Law Outline (PLO), preparing evidence and reports as required.
  • Operate effectively within legal frameworks, including private law, public law, and adoption proceedings.
  • Prepare high-quality court statements, reports, and care plans for legal proceedings.
  • Attend court hearings and provide professional evidence when required.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including education, health, police, and legal services, to achieve positive outcomes for children.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding legislation, policies, and statutory guidance.
  • Conduct home visits and community-based interventions, requiring the ability to travel independently as part of the role.

Essential Requirements:

  • Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
  • At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
  • Social Work England Registration
  • Driving license and access to own vehicle
