Milton Keynes Council is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to join their Family Support Team on a locum basis. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking local authority committed to delivering high-quality services to children, young people and families.

Working within a supportive and collaborative team, you will play a key role in safeguarding children, promoting positive outcomes, and supporting families through effective assessment, planning and intervention. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload and work with children subject to Child in Need, Child Protection and Public Law proceedings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake comprehensive assessments of children and families in accordance with statutory requirements.

  • Manage a caseload involving Child in Need, Child Protection and Court work.

  • Develop and implement effective care plans to ensure children receive the support and protection they require.

  • Complete risk assessments and undertake direct work with children and families.

  • Prepare high-quality reports for conferences, reviews and court proceedings.

  • Work in partnership with multi-agency professionals to achieve positive outcomes for children.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in line with local authority policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification.

  • Registered with Social Work England.

  • Previous experience within a Children's Services team.

  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance and social work practice.

  • Excellent assessment, communication and report-writing skills.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
