Qualified Social Worker - Children in Care (CIC Team)

Location: Civic Centre, 1 Saxon Gate East, Central Milton Keynes, MK9 3EJ
Pay Rate: £38 P/H
Contract: Temporary
Hours: Full-time (37 hours per week)
Working Pattern: Full time/on site (note: the role requires local and occasional longer-distance travel)

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced and dedicated Qualified Social Worker to join a Children in Care (CIC) Team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive local authority, making a real difference in the lives of children and young people in care.

You will be responsible for managing a caseload of looked-after children, ensuring their care plans promote stability, safety, and positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of Children in Care, including care planning and reviews
  • Undertake statutory visits and ensure all visits are completed within timescales
  • Develop and implement care plans that reflect the needs and wishes of the child
  • Work closely with foster carers, families, and partner agencies
  • Prepare high-quality reports for reviews, court, and other statutory meetings
  • Support children and young people to achieve permanence and positive outcomes
  • Ensure compliance with statutory legislation and local authority procedures

Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification (BA/MA Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent)
  • Registered with Social Work England
  • Proven experience working within Children in Care / Looked After Children teams
  • Strong assessment, report writing, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage a busy caseload effectively

Essential Requirements:

  • Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
  • At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
  • Social Work England Registration
  • Driving license and access to own vehicle
