Barnsley Council is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Team Manager to lead a brand-new Edge of Care Team, designed to support children aged 10-18 who are at risk of becoming Looked After.

About the Role:
This newly established team will deliver intensive, targeted, and creative interventions to families, focusing on strengthening relationships and reducing the need for children to enter care. The work will include a mix of one-to-one and family-based sessions, tailored to the unique needs of each family.

As Team Manager, you'll play a key role in shaping the team's practice, driving high-quality interventions, and ensuring positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strong leadership and direction to a multi-disciplinary team
  • Develop and oversee personalised interventions aimed at preventing family breakdown
  • Support families with complex challenges, including neurodiversity, trauma, and resistance to professional involvement
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and success of a pioneering new service


What We're Looking For:

  • Proven leadership experience within children's social care
  • Strong understanding of the factors contributing to family breakdown
  • Experience working with children with complex needs and trauma
  • Ability to engage with families in a meaningful, empathetic, and effective way
