About the Role

Milton Keynes Council is seeking a skilled and dedicated Social Worker to join their Family Support Team, working on a hybrid basis from the Civic Offices in the heart of Milton Keynes.

This is a frontline role supporting children and families through various levels of need, including Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Looked After Children (LAC). You'll play a crucial role in delivering high-quality services to safeguard children and promote their well-being.


Key Responsibilities

  • Hold and manage a caseload of children and families under CIN, CP, and LAC frameworks

  • Undertake assessments in line with statutory requirements and local procedures

  • Develop and implement clear care plans in collaboration with families and professionals

  • Attend and contribute to CIN and Core Group meetings, and participate in child protection conferences and reviews

  • Prepare accurate and analytical court reports, risk assessments, and parenting assessments as required

  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to deliver coordinated support

  • Engage in direct work with children and families to ensure their voices are heard in all decision-making

  • Contribute to the team duty system and respond to urgent safeguarding concerns

  • Maintain high-quality records in compliance with council policy and data protection regulations


Requirements

  • Recognised Social Work qualification (Degree/DipSW/CQSW)

  • Social Work England registration

  • Minimum of 2 years' post-qualifying experience in children's statutory services

  • Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures, legislation, and frameworks

  • Proven experience working with CIN, CP, and LAC cases

  • Confident in managing complex caseloads and multi-agency working

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service preferred

  • Willingness to travel within the local area as needed
