Birmingham Children's Trust is seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Practitioner to join their dynamic Front Door (Duty) team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled social worker looking to take the next step in a fast-paced, supportive environment focused on safeguarding and early intervention.

About the Role

As a Senior Practitioner within the Duty (Front Door) service, you will play a key role in managing incoming referrals, undertaking safeguarding enquiries, and ensuring timely and effective interventions for children and families.

  • Work within the S47 team, completing Section 47 enquiries and progressing cases to Initial Child Protection Conferences (ICPC) where appropriate
  • Manage a varied caseload within a short-term intervention team
  • Participate in a duty rota (1 week in every 3)
  • Undertake both office-based and community-based work, including home visits
  • Utilise the Eclipse system to record and manage casework

Working Arrangements

  • 37 hours per week
  • 2 days office-based during duty week
  • Flexible working outside of duty week
  • Free parking available
  • Travel required across the North West Central Birmingham area (Clean Air Zone applicable)


Essential Requirements:

  • Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
  • At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
  • Social Work England Registration
  • Driving license and access to own vehicle
