City of Wolverhampton Council is currently looking for experienced Agency Social Workers to join their Adoption Support Team.



Pay Rate: £30.57 per hour (Umbrella)
Location: Civic Centre

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake assessments of adoption support needs for adopted children, adoptive families, and birth relatives.
  • Develop, implement, and review adoption support plans to promote stability and positive outcomes.
  • Provide direct support, guidance, and intervention to adoptive families facing challenges.
  • Work collaboratively with children, adopters, birth families, and partner agencies to meet identified needs.
  • Support children and families in understanding and managing issues related to attachment, trauma, identity, and life-story work.
  • Coordinate and monitor services commissioned to meet adoption support needs.
  • Facilitate and support contact arrangements between adopted children and birth family members where appropriate.
  • Prepare reports, assessments, and recommendations in line with statutory requirements and agency procedures.
  • Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings, reviews, and professional forums.
  • Maintain accurate case records and ensure all work is compliant with adoption legislation, regulations, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Provide advice and support to prospective and approved adopters on adoption-related matters.
  • Promote the welfare, safety, and best interests of adopted children at all times.

Essential Requirements:

  • Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
  • At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
  • Social Work England Registration
  • Driving license and access to own vehicle
