Eden Brown Synergy are currently looking for an experienced and motivated Qualified social worker to join our Adoption Team in Grays, Essex with Thurrock Council.
Job Title: QSW - Adoption Team
Location: New Road, Grays, Essex, RM17 6SL
Pay Rate: Up to £36 per hour
Work pattern: A minimum of 2 days a week in the office
About the Role:
Thurrock Council is seeking a qualified social worker to join our Adoption Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work across the full adoption journey and make a real difference to children and families. Adoption experience is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit and assess prospective adopters, including delivering information events and preparing adopters through training.
- Conduct family finding for children with a plan for adoption and for prospective adopters, supporting them once a child is placed.
- Support birth parents to understand adoption and its implications.
- Undertake assessments of need for post-adoption and Special Guardianship Order (SGO) cases.
- Identify and commission post-order support services.
- Support adopted adults accessing their birth records.
- Carry out non-agency and stepparent adoption assessments and prepare reports for court.
- Develop partnership working with other local authorities and adoption agencies within Adopt East.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years post-qualified experience with statutory childcare experience.
- Proven experience working in an adoption team.
- Excellent writing, communication, and organisational skills.
- Enthusiastic, motivated, and a strong team player.

Essential Requirements:
* Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
* At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
* Social Work England Registration
* Driving license and access to own vehicle
