Buckinghamshire Council is currently seeking an experienced Child Protection Advisor to join their team in Aylesbury on a temporary basis.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in safeguarding practice across the service. The main responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking the role of Child Protection Adviser and chairing Initial and Review Child Protection Conferences in line with the Strengthening Families approach, relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and child protection procedures
  • Acting as a critical friend to practitioners and partner agencies, providing constructive challenge and support to improve the quality of safeguarding practice
  • Promoting and sharing best practice as part of the local quality assurance framework
  • Working collaboratively with social work teams and partner agencies to strengthen safety planning and achieve positive outcomes for children and young people at risk of harm

About You

We are looking for either:

  • An experienced Child Protection Chair, or
  • A highly skilled Child and Family Social Worker with management experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • A recognised Social Work qualification and active SWE registration
  • Strong post-qualifying experience in statutory social work
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence, advocate, and negotiate effectively
  • Experience chairing complex meetings, ensuring meaningful participation from professionals, families, and where appropriate, children and young people
  • Experience in a management role within a social work setting
