Child Protection Social Worker - Buckinghamshire County Council - Aylesbury - Locum Opportunity

Buckinghamshire County Council is seeking an experienced Child Protection Social Worker to join their established Children's Services team based in Aylesbury. This is an excellent locum opportunity for a qualified Social Worker with strong experience in Child Protection, Safeguarding, Court Work, CIN, CP Plans, and Children in Need Services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver targeted and specialist social work services for children and young people requiring support, protection, and care
  • Complete statutory assessments in line with local authority thresholds and safeguarding legislation
  • Assess risk, parenting capacity, family functioning, and identify support needs for children and families
  • Manage Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Public Law Outline (PLO) cases
  • Undertake direct work with children to understand their wishes, feelings, and lived experiences
  • Develop and implement effective support plans, child protection plans, and care planning pathways
  • Work closely with parents, carers, and families using a strengths-based and relationship-focused approach
  • Collaborate with schools, health professionals, police, legal teams, and wider multi-agency partners
  • Prepare high-quality court reports and represent the Local Authority in court proceedings when required
  • Monitor, review, and adapt plans to ensure improved outcomes for children and young people
  • Maintain accurate case recordings and statutory documentation in line with legislation and best practice
  • Participate in team duty cover and support colleagues across the service where required

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
  • Minimum 3+ years Post Qualified Experience within Children's Services in a UK Local Authority
  • Strong background in Child Protection, Safeguarding, Court Work, CIN, and CP cases
  • Experience completing statutory assessments and managing complex caseloads
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
  • Excellent report writing, assessment, and multi-agency working skills
