COMMENTS:
* Connecting Families is a specialist team within Durham's Children in Care service.
* We work with children and young people (0-18) who are subject to a Section 31 Care Order and where there's a realistic opportunity for them to safely return home.
* Our focus is reunification done well-supporting families to create the right conditions for children to go home and stay home, with the child's voice at the centre.
* You'll work closely with families and partners including Family Group Conferencing, Supporting Solutions, Connected Care and Early Help to build strong, sustainable support networks.
* This role also involves creating clear exit plans and contributing to positive court applications to discharge Care Orders.
* We're a small, supportive, and nurturing team where relationship-based practice, trauma-informed approaches, and the Signs of Safety framework shape everything we do. You'll spend meaningful time with children, help them make sense of their experiences, and ensure their views guide your work.
* Durham Children's Services was rated Outstanding by Ofsted (March 2025), with inspectors praising our ambitious leadership, strong practice culture and the sense of belonging felt by our social workers.
