An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Advanced Practitioner to join the Child Protection/Looked After Children (CP/LAC) Team at Darlington Borough Council. This is an ongoing agency contract offering a competitive hourly rate and the chance to work within a supportive, well-established local authority.
About the Role
As an Advanced Practitioner, you will provide high-quality social work practice while supporting the development of less experienced colleagues. You will work with children, young people, and families to achieve positive outcomes, ensuring that safeguarding remains at the heart of your practice.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a complex caseload involving Child Protection and Looked After Children.
Complete high-quality assessments, care planning, and statutory visits.
Lead on safeguarding interventions and risk management.
Prepare reports and attend court proceedings where required.
Provide mentoring, guidance, and practice support to social workers within the team.
Work collaboratively with partner agencies to deliver effective outcomes for children and families.
Ensure all work is completed in line with statutory guidance, legislation, and local policies.
Requirements
Social Work England registration.
Significant post-qualifying experience within Children's Services.
Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and court processes.
Experience supporting, mentoring, or supervising social workers.
Excellent assessment, communication, and analytical skills.
