Job Title: Advanced Practitioner - Emergency Duty Team (EDT)
Location: Walsall
Pay Rate: £32.67 per hour (Umbrella)
Working Pattern: Short evening/weekend shifts (5pm-12am) initially, progressing to longer shifts including nights, weekends, and bank holidays once proficient
Walsall Council is seeking an experienced Advanced Practitioner to join the Emergency Duty Team (EDT), providing out-of-hours statutory social work services across both children's and adult's services.
This role involves responding to urgent referrals outside of normal working hours, managing crisis situations, and working in partnership with multi-agency professionals to safeguard vulnerable individuals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to emergency referrals involving children, young people, and vulnerable adults
- Undertake risk assessments and safeguarding interventions in complex and high-risk situations
- Make timely, sound professional judgements in line with statutory responsibilities
- Produce clear, factual, and high-quality case recordings within required timescales
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies to manage and reduce risk
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years post-qualified experience (PQE required)
- Strong background in child protection and/or adult safeguarding
- Proven experience of working within statutory social work settings
- Good understanding of safeguarding procedures and relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and Care Act 2014
- Ability to manage complex and high-pressure decision-making situations
