Job Summary:

Surrey County Council is recruiting for an experienced Assessment Social Worker to join their Weybridge-based team. This frontline position focuses on safeguarding children and young people through robust, timely assessments.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Undertaking statutory s.17 and s.47 assessments

  • Responding promptly to safeguarding concerns and referrals

  • Building strong relationships with children and families to assess risk and need

  • Working collaboratively with multi-agency professionals

  • Preparing clear, evidence-based reports to support decision-making and court proceedings

  • Managing caseloads within statutory timeframes

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration

  • Minimum 2-3 years post-qualified experience in a frontline children's social work team

  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding policies, procedures, and thresholds

  • Excellent analytical, assessment, and written communication skills

  • Must be a driver with access to a vehicle
