Occupational Therapist - Urgent Response Team

Location: Barnet Council, Colindale, London (NW9 4EW)
Rate: £36.00 per hour
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 1-2 days in office per week
Car Driver Preferred

Eden Brown Synergy is currently recruiting for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join Barnet Council's Urgent Response Occupational Therapy Team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled OT with strong manual handling experience who enjoys working autonomously within a fast-paced and supportive environment. The team covers the entire London Borough of Barnet and is committed to delivering an outstanding service to residents requiring urgent occupational therapy interventions.

About the Role

As part of the Urgent Response OT Team, you will:

  • Complete Occupational Therapy assessments and Moving & Handling Risk Assessments
  • Manage urgent referrals across the borough
  • Provide recommendations and interventions to reduce risks to service users and carers
  • Work independently while receiving regular supervision and day-to-day support
  • Participate in the duty OT rota one day per week
  • Collaborate with a proactive and positive multidisciplinary team

Referral Criteria Includes

  • Moving and handling cases where existing equipment is unsuitable or unavailable
  • High-risk situations where carers are at risk of physical injury
  • Safeguarding concerns relating to equipment or manual handling
  • Service users unable to transfer safely between bed, chair, toilet, or navigate stairs
  • Urgent equipment replacement where equipment has been deemed irreparable and risks injury
  • Requests for increased care packages requiring manual handling assessments
  • Palliative care cases where Continuing Healthcare or North London Hospice are not involved

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Occupational Therapist
  • HCPC Registered
  • Excellent manual handling experience
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage urgent caseloads
  • Strong assessment and risk management skills
  • Team player with a positive and proactive approach
  • Driving licence and access to a vehicle preferred

Working Pattern

  • Thursday is the designated office day for the whole team
  • 1-2 days per week in the office
  • Hybrid working for the remainder of the week
