Northamptonshire Children's Trust is seeking an experienced and dedicated Practice Manager to join their Fostering Service in Northampton. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident leader to play a key role in shaping high-quality fostering services while supporting and developing social work practitioners within a well-established local authority team.

Role Overview

  • Job Title: Practice Manager - Fostering
  • Location: Northampton (Angel Square, NN1 1ED)
  • Pay Rate: £38 per hour (Umbrella)
  • Hours: 37 hours per week
  • Working Pattern: Hybrid - 1 day per week in the office

Key Responsibilities

As a Practice Manager within the Fostering Service, you will:
  • Provide strong leadership, supervision, and guidance to a team of social workers and practitioners
  • Oversee fostering assessments, support plans, and reviews to ensure compliance with statutory requirements
  • Drive high standards of practice, ensuring positive outcomes for children in foster care
  • Support foster carers through effective supervision, training, and development
  • Manage complex cases and provide professional advice on safeguarding and placement stability
  • Ensure all work meets Ofsted standards and aligns with fostering legislation and best practice guidance
  • Contribute to service development and continuous improvement initiatives

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with valid Social Work England registration
  • Significant experience within Children's Services, specifically Fostering
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of fostering regulations, policies, and safeguarding practices
  • Ability to manage complex cases and support team performance effectively
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills
