About the Role
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of looked after children, including complex and high-risk cases
- Lead on care planning, permanence planning, and pathway planning for children and young people
- Chair and contribute to statutory reviews, ensuring compliance with legislation and timescales
- Provide supervision, guidance, and support to less experienced social workers
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies, foster carers, and families to achieve best outcomes
- Ensure all recording and reporting is accurate, timely, and in line with local authority standards
- Promote safeguarding and the welfare of children at all times
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
- Significant post-qualification experience within Looked After Children services
- Proven experience managing complex caseloads and court work
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
- Experience of supervising or mentoring staff is highly desirable
- Excellent assessment, analytical, and communication skills
