Stockport - Supervising Social Worker - Kinship Care Team
Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated to join Supervising Social Worker their Kinship Care Team.
Location :- Piccadilly, Stockport
Payrate :-£35.00 Per hour (Umbrella)
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake assessments of kinship carers, including viability, connected persons, and special guardianship assessments, in line with statutory requirements.
- Provide ongoing supervision, guidance, and support to approved kinship carers to ensure safe and stable placements for children.
- Assess the support needs of kinship families and develop tailored support plans to promote placement stability and positive outcomes.
- Work directly with children, young people, and their kinship carers to ensure their voices, wishes, and lived experiences inform care planning.
- Monitor placements to ensure safeguarding standards are met and children's welfare remains central to all decision-making.
- Prepare high-quality reports for fostering panels, court proceedings, and care planning meetings as required.
- Work collaboratively with children's social workers, legal teams, education, health services, and partner agencies to coordinate support.
- Provide advice and support to kinship carers around trauma, attachment, contact arrangements, and managing complex family dynamics.
- Contribute to permanency planning, including Special Guardianship Orders (SGO), Child Arrangements Orders (CAO), and long-term care planning.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality case recordings in accordance with legislative and organisational standards.
- Participate in training, support groups, and development opportunities for kinship carers to strengthen their skills and resilience.
- Promote anti-discriminatory, anti-oppressive, and child-centred practice in all aspects of service delivery.
Essential Requirements:
- Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
- At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
- Social Work England Registration
- Driving license and access to own vehicle
