Birmingham City Council is seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner - Safeguarding to join the team on a short-term contract. The role involves managing a small team of Social Workers and supporting safeguarding activity across the service.

This position may include involvement in triage and will have a strong focus on Section 42 safeguarding enquiries.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage 4-5 Social Workers
  • Lead and support safeguarding practice within the team
  • Undertake and oversee Section 42 safeguarding enquiries
  • Contribute to triage and initial screening where required
  • Ensure statutory duties are met in line with relevant legislation and procedures
  • Provide professional guidance and oversight of complex cases
  • Maintain high standards of case recording and decision making
  • Work collaboratively within a multi-agency environment
