About the Role

Suffolk County Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Social Worker to join their Children's Social Care Team in Ipswich. This role involves holding complex cases and supporting children and families who are subject to Child in Need and Child Protection plans.

You'll work within a dynamic and collaborative environment, contributing to meaningful change through high-quality assessments and direct interventions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake in-depth assessments of children and families in line with statutory requirements

  • Hold and manage a caseload of CIN and CP cases

  • Develop and implement care plans that promote safety, stability, and positive outcomes

  • Chair and attend CIN meetings, strategy discussions, and core groups

  • Complete timely reports for legal proceedings and statutory reviews

  • Engage with multi-agency partners to provide coordinated support

  • Contribute to team development and provide informal support to junior staff

  • Ensure accurate and comprehensive case recording and reporting


Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration

  • Minimum of 3 years' post-qualified experience in statutory children's services

  • Experience working with Child in Need and Child Protection cases essential

  • Proven ability to conduct high-quality assessments and write robust reports

  • Excellent interpersonal and multi-agency liaison skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service preferred
