About the Role:

Suffolk County Council is looking for a Senior Social Worker to join its specialist Harmful Sexual Behaviour (HSB) Service. This is a vital, non-case-holding position supporting frontline social workers by providing expertise, guidance, and direct intervention when working with children and young people who display sexualised behaviours.

Using Hackett's (2010) Continuum of Behaviour, this role plays a key part in early identification, prevention, and risk reduction to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children across Suffolk.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consultation, advice, and intervention to professionals dealing with concerns about harmful sexual behaviour (HSB) in children.

  • Participate in threshold discussions with MASH to evaluate HSB cases.

  • Carry out direct work with children and young people (non-case-holding), working alongside social workers and lead professionals.

  • Where required, contribute to AIM3 assessments to evaluate the level of intervention needed (training desirable but not essential).

  • Deliver awareness training and presentations to key stakeholders including foster carers, educational institutions, and local services.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England

  • Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience in children's services

  • Strong understanding of harmful sexual behaviour and trauma-informed practice

  • Experience of multi-agency working, consultation, and professional support

  • Passionate about safeguarding, early intervention, and preventing escalation
