Leeds City Council - Advanced Practitioner (Child Protection)

Leeds City Council is seeking an experienced Advanced Practitioner to join the Child Protection Team. This role is ideal for a skilled social worker looking to take on a leadership and mentoring role within a busy but supportive team, contributing to a learning culture that promotes best practices in safeguarding. The position offers a competitive pay rate of £35 per hour (umbrella).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage complex Child Protection (CP) cases, ensuring high-quality assessments and care planning.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced social workers, helping to promote professional development within the team.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals to develop and implement effective safeguarding interventions.
  • Lead and contribute to team discussions, training, and case audits, ensuring continuous learning and improvement.
  • Attend child protection conferences, court hearings, and other statutory meetings, providing detailed and evidence-based reports.
  • Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with statutory requirements and council policies.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
  • Proven experience in Child Protection (CP) and safeguarding.
  • Ability to work within a duty rota, providing support to the team during high-demand periods.
  • Must hold a valid driving license and have access to a car.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, risk assessment, and case management.
  • Clean DBS check required before starting the role.
