Child Protection Chair and LADO – Derby City

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our team as a Child Protection Chair and Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) in Derby City. In this role, you will play a crucial part in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in the area.

Key responsibilities and duties include:

  • Chairing child protection conferences and reviews to ensure effective decision-making and planning for children at risk
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to social workers and partner agencies on complex child protection cases
  • Acting as the designated officer for managing allegations against professionals who work with children, ensuring thorough investigations and appropriate actions are taken
  • Working collaboratively with key stakeholders to develop and implement child protection policies and procedures

The ideal candidate for this position will possess:

  • A recognized social work qualification and registration with Social Work England
  • Extensive experience in child protection work, including chairing meetings and managing safeguarding concerns
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and best practices in child protection
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with professionals and families

Additional requirements for this role may include a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for travel within the Derby City area.
