We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the Hinckley Family Help Team at Leicestershire County Council.

About the Role
This is a unique Senior Social Work Oversight Practitioner (SSWOP) position, providing safeguarding oversight and professional support rather than holding a traditional caseload.
You will work alongside keyworkers and provide social work oversight for children and families on Child in Need plans, ensuring high-quality safeguarding practice and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Chairing first and final Child in Need (CIN) meetings
- Supporting and accompanying keyworkers on home visits where required
- Chairing Strategy Discussions
- Completing Section 47 enquiries
- Providing monthly written oversight for each family
- Working collaboratively with keyworkers and family support staff
- Co-allocated oversight responsibility for approximately 60 children
About You
We are seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner with:
- Strong safeguarding experience
- Extensive knowledge of Child in Need processes
- Experience undertaking Strategy Discussions and Section 47 enquiries
- Experience within Private Law Proceedings
- Excellent understanding of thresholds and risk assessment
- Previous experience providing professional oversight, mentoring, or supporting less experienced practitioners (desirable)

- 3 Team Leaders
- 8 Keyworkers
- 8 Family Support Workers

- Full-time position only
- Hybrid working available (50% office attendance required)
