This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a highly specialist service supporting vulnerable young people, while contributing to best practice across children's social care.


Role Details

Role: Social Worker - UASC Team
Location: Nottingham City Council
Rate: Up to £35 per hour
Contract: Ongoing agency contract (with potential for extension)


About the Role

You will be working within the UASC service, supporting unaccompanied asylum-seeking children through complex care planning, safeguarding processes, and multi-agency support. The role involves delivering high-quality assessments and interventions to ensure the safety, stability, and long-term wellbeing of young people.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC)
  • Undertake high-quality Child and Family Assessments
  • Complete safeguarding enquiries and support child protection planning
  • Carry out age assessments where required (Merton compliant)
  • Work closely with multi-agency professionals including legal, education, health, and immigration services
  • Develop and review care and pathway plans
  • Support young people through the asylum and leaving care process
  • Ensure all practice is legally compliant and child-focused

Requirements

  • Social Work England registration
  • Significant post-qualifying experience within Children's Services
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and court processes
  • Experience supporting, mentoring, or supervising social workers (desirable)
  • Excellent assessment, communication, and analytical skills
