Wakefield - PART TIME Sr. QSW - EDT Team
Wakefield Council is Looking for PART TIME Senior Social Worker for their Emergency Duty Team.
Payrate: -£35.00 p/h Umbrella
Location: - Headquarters, Havertop Lane, Normanton, West Yorkshire, WF6 1FD
Hours per week:- 18.5 hour
Shift Patterns: -
- 16:00 - 00:00 (Monday-Sunday)
- 09:00 - 17:00 (Saturday-Sunday and Bank Holidays)
Role Overview:
Working as part of a rota, you will provide essential out‑of‑hours social care support across the Wakefield District. You will be responsible for assessing urgent situations, ensuring immediate safety planning, and delivering timely and effective interventions until daytime services resume.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing and responding to Social Care inboxes: Prioritizing urgent matters and coordinating actions effectively.
- Handling emergency and crisis situations: Ensuring immediate safety and stability for individuals and families outside of regular office hours.
- Undertaking planned visits: Completing essential visits on behalf of locality teams to assess urgent needs and address concerns.
- Completing risk assessments: Carrying out thorough and comprehensive risk assessments in order to make appropriate safeguarding decisions.
- On-call duties: Participating in on-call duties between 00:00 and 08:30 as required, providing emergency response during these hours.
- Collaborating with other agencies: Working alongside law enforcement, health professionals, and other partners in crisis scenarios to ensure immediate safety and appropriate support.
- Effective decision-making: Making well-informed decisions that impact safeguarding plans, child protection, adult safeguarding, and general well-being of individuals in crisis.

- Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment to ensure child safety and well-being.
- Adapt to varying caseloads and geographic allocations while maintaining high-quality practice.
- Promote safeguarding and child-cantered practice in all interactions.
Essential Requirements:
- Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
- At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
- Social Work England Registration
- Driving license and access to own vehicle
