👩⚖️ About the Role
Barnsley Council is looking for a dedicated and experienced Qualified Social Worker (QSW) to join their Children in Care Team. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people in care, ensuring their safety, stability, and long-term positive outcomes.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of children in care, ensuring all statutory responsibilities are met
- Complete care planning, pathway plans, and statutory visits within required timescales
- Work closely with foster carers, residential settings, and partner agencies
- Prepare high-quality reports for reviews, court proceedings, and planning meetings
- Promote permanence planning, including adoption, long-term fostering, or reunification
- Ensure the voice of the child is central to all decision-making
✅ Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with active Social Work England registration
- Previous experience working within a Children in Care / Looked After Children team
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including Children Act 1989 and care planning regulations
- Ability to manage complex caseloads and meet deadlines effectively
- Excellent communication and multi-agency working skills
