Sandwell - Social Worker - Parent Assessor Team
Sandwell Council is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to join their Parent Assessor Team .
Location: B69 3DE
Pay rate: £33.30 per hour (Umbrella)
Working Hours & Flexibility:
We are looking for two practitioners who can work on a full-time or 4 days per week basis. We are happy to consider flexible working patterns, such as 37 hours across 4 days or 10 days across 9.
Hybrid Work:
This role offers the flexibility for hybrid working, with a requirement to attend the office 2-3 days per week and a commitment to attending legal and care planning meetings.
Key Responsibilities: -
- Conduct detailed, comprehensive parenting assessments for parents with additional cognitive or learning needs, evaluating their parenting capacity and ability to meet the child's needs.
- Prepare thorough, court-ready reports that reflect your professional assessment, providing expert opinions on parenting capacity and child safety.
- Confidently give evidence in court, explaining your findings and assessments while answering questions about the parents' abilities to care for their children.
- Collaborate with social work teams in child protection and court services, sharing information, insights, and providing expert support for complex cases.
- Conduct risk assessments to evaluate potential harm to children and determine the safety and appropriateness of parental environments.
- Carry out "together or apart" assessments, analysing the impact of parental interactions and the best interests of the child.
- Prepare child impact reports, documenting the effects of parental behaviours on the child's emotional, social, and developmental well-being.
- Report directly to the Service Manager for oversight, managing case allocations, and ensuring all assessments meet high standards of quality assurance.
- Attend and contribute to legal meetings, care planning meetings, and multi-agency panels, presenting assessments and findings to inform decision-making.
Essential Requirements:
- Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
- At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
- Social Work England Registration
- Driving license and access to own vehicle
