Torbay Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Social Worker to join our Court Team, working with children and families at a critical point in their lives. Pay rate - £42ph This is a challenging and rewarding role where you will make a real difference by ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children subject to care proceedings. 3 month initial contract, 37 hours a week. Flexible working. Accommodation Allowance: £150 per week (up to the end of June 2026)
You will manage a complex caseload, undertaking high-quality assessments, preparing court statements, and representing the local authority in legal proceedings. You'll work closely with families, legal professionals, and partner agencies to achieve the best possible outcomes for children.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of children subject to public and private law proceedings
Complete robust assessments and care plans within statutory timescales
Prepare high-quality court reports and give evidence in court when required
Work in partnership with families, carers, legal teams, and multi-agency professionals
Ensure all practice is child-focused, reflective, and compliant with legislation and guidance
You will be Social Work England registered, ideally a driver with access to own car and able to reside and work in the UK
