Occupational Therapist - Children with Disabilities (Hybrid)

Location: Ambleside Close, Woodley, Reading, Berkshire, RG5 4JJ
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 2 days per week in the office
Hours: 37 hours per week
Rate: £40.62 per hour
Contract: Locum

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Children with Disabilities Team on a hybrid basis. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and young people with physical disabilities and complex needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out community-based occupational therapy assessments for children and young people with physical disabilities and complex needs.
  • Assess functional abilities and provide recommendations for specialist equipment and adaptations.
  • Support children, young people, and their families to maximise independence and improve quality of life.
  • Deliver advice and training on the safe use of equipment and manual handling practices.
  • Work collaboratively with carers, schools, health professionals, and partner agencies.
  • Contribute to safeguarding children and young people.
  • Maintain accurate case records, reports, and performance data.
  • Support and mentor Occupational Therapy Assistants, students, and new team members.

Requirements

  • Qualified Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration.
  • Experience working with children and young people with disabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, safeguarding, and community-based practice.
  • Experience recommending equipment and major/minor adaptations.
  • Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload independently.
