City of Wolverhampton Council is currently looking for experienced Agency Social Workers to join their Family Finding Team.



Pay Rate: £30.57 per hour (Umbrella)
Location: Civic Centre

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, assess, and secure suitable permanent families for children with adoption plans.
  • Develop and implement effective family-finding strategies to achieve timely permanency for children.
  • Prepare detailed child profiles, family profiles, and matching documentation.
  • Work closely with children, foster carers, adopters, and partner agencies throughout the matching process.
  • Coordinate and participate in matching meetings, linking processes, and adoption panels.
  • Support children and prospective adopters through introductions, transition planning, and placement arrangements.
  • Undertake adoption assessments and contribute to permanency planning for children.
  • Promote children through regional and national family-finding initiatives and adoption exchanges.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and case documentation in accordance with statutory requirements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, regional adoption agencies, and external partners to identify suitable families.
  • Monitor and review family-finding activity to minimise delays and improve outcomes for children.
  • Ensure all practice is child-centred, safeguarding-focused, and compliant with adoption legislation, policies, and procedures.

Essential Requirements:

  • Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
  • At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
  • Social Work England Registration
  • Driving license and access to own vehicle
