City of Wolverhampton - Sr. QSW - Looked After Children Team
City of Wolverhampton Council is currently looking for experienced Senior Social Workers to join their Looked After Children Team.
Pay Rate: £33.33 per hour (Umbrella)
Location: Civic Centre
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a complex caseload of Looked After Children (LAC) in line with statutory duties, policies, and procedures.
- Undertake high-quality assessments, care planning, risk assessments, and reviews to ensure positive outcomes for children and young people.
- Develop and implement care plans that promote stability, permanence, safeguarding, and emotional wellbeing.
- Work collaboratively with children, families, foster carers, schools, health professionals, and partner agencies to achieve best outcomes.
- Ensure all statutory visits, reviews, and documentation are completed within required timescales and to a high professional standard.
- Prepare clear and evidence-based reports for court proceedings, child protection conferences, and statutory review meetings.
- Contribute to permanence planning, including reunification, long-term fostering, special guardianship, and adoption planning where appropriate.
- Provide guidance, mentoring, and support to less experienced social workers and students within the team.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case recordings in accordance with departmental and legislative requirements.
- Promote the voice of the child in all decision-making and ensure children's views, wishes, and feelings are fully represented.
- Identify safeguarding concerns promptly and take appropriate action to protect vulnerable children and young people.
- Participate in duty rotas, team meetings, supervision, and multi-agency forums as required.
- Support service improvement initiatives and contribute to achieving team performance targets and quality standards.
- Ensure practice reflects current legislation, safeguarding procedures, and professional standards, including Working Together and Children Act requirements.
Essential Requirements:
- Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
- At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
- Social Work England Registration
- Driving license and access to own vehicle
