Independent Reviewing Officer | Nottingham City Council
Nottingham City Council is seeking a dedicated and passionate Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic Qualified Social Work team. This pivotal role involves ensuring that the care plans for children and young people in the local authority's care are robust, effective, and in their best interests. As an IRO, you will play a crucial part in safeguarding vulnerable children, promoting their welfare, and ensuring their voices are heard in the decision-making processes that affect their lives.
Key responsibilities and duties include:
- Conducting independent reviews of care plans for children and young people in care, ensuring adherence to statutory requirements.
- Facilitating multi-agency meetings and consultations to gather insights and promote collaboration among stakeholders.
- Monitoring the progress of care plans, providing constructive feedback and recommendations for improvement.
- Ensuring that the views of children and young people are central to the review process and advocating on their behalf.
- Maintaining accurate records and reports in compliance with local authority policies and procedures.
The ideal candidate will possess essential qualifications and skills, including:
- A recognized social work qualification (BA/MA in Social Work or equivalent).
- Registration with Social Work England.
- Demonstrable experience in children’s social work, particularly in a reviewing or assessment capacity.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and professionals.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in child welfare and safeguarding.
