Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) - Looked After Children
Location: Kirklees CPRU, Units 5/6 Silver Court Industrial Estate, Silver Street, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, HD5 9AG
Pay: £40 per hour (Umbrella)
Are you an experienced professional passionate about championing the rights and welfare of children in care? Kirklees is seeking a skilled Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our team and make a real difference in the lives of Looked After Children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Chair and manage statutory reviews for Looked After Children in line with legislation and guidance.
- Ensure care plans reflect the child's needs, aspirations, and best interests.
- Monitor progress and provide independent oversight to improve outcomes for children.
- Work collaboratively with social workers, foster carers, and multi-agency professionals.
- Maintain accurate records and produce high-quality reports for internal and external stakeholders.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience in child protection or social care, particularly with Looked After Children.
- Strong understanding of legislation and statutory guidance relating to LAC.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a demanding caseload efficiently.
- A commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable children.
