Location: TBC (Local Authority Adult Social Care Service)
Hours: Full-time, flexible working (including evenings/weekends on rota as required)
Working Pattern: Agile / Hybrid - community, office, and remote working
Reporting To: Senior Manager - Adult Social Care
Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Advanced Practitioner to join a specialist Adult Social Care service, taking a lead role in safeguarding, complex case management, and high-risk decision making.
This is a senior practice role designed for a highly skilled social worker with strong legal literacy and extensive experience in adult safeguarding, mental capacity, and Court of Protection work. You will provide expert oversight on complex cases, support practitioners, and help drive best practice across the service.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of high-risk and complex adult safeguarding cases, including situations involving multiple safeguarding concerns and critical risk factors
Provide advanced practice leadership on complex cases, working alongside social workers and practitioners to ensure robust decision-making and risk management
Undertake and support safeguarding investigations, ensuring compliance with statutory guidance and local safeguarding procedures
Lead and chair Adult Protection operational meetings where cases involve significant complexity or risk
Contribute to and oversee Court of Protection work, including complex legal interventions where required
Authorise, quality assure, and sign off assessments, reports, and court documentation, ensuring accuracy, evidence-based analysis, and defensible decision-making
Ensure individuals and carers are actively involved in strengths-based, person-centred assessments and support planning
Promote preventative and strengths-based practice, supporting independence while ensuring robust safeguarding
Work closely with Safeguarding Officers to develop best practice, policy, and procedural improvements
Contribute to induction, training, and professional development of new staff, particularly in safeguarding practice
Respond to elected member (Councillor) enquiries and attend committee meetings where required
Support service development projects and contribute to strategic and operational improvement initiatives
Authorise resource allocation within defined delegated limits
