Wirral - Advanced Practitioner - CP / CIN Team
Wirral Council is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Advance Practitioner to join their Child Protection / Child in Need Team.
Location :- 2 Alice Square, Birkenhead, CH412YA
Payrate :-Up to £40.00 Per hour (Umbrella)
Key Responsibilities:
Safeguarding & Practice Leadership
- Lead high-quality social work practice in safeguarding, child protection and complex risk cases in line with HCPC standards, legislation and organisational policies.
- Ensure children and young people are safe and achieve positive outcomes through effective assessments, planning and interventions.
- Provide professional leadership and promote research-informed practice, quality assurance and continuous service improvement.
- Guide and support professionals on cases involving high complexity and risk.
- Ensure robust risk management, decision-making and preventative safeguarding work.
- Chair complex and high-risk multi-agency meetings.
Casework & Court Work
- Support complex court work, including Court of Protection matters.
- Authorise and quality assure assessments, reports and court documentation.
- Ensure evidence-based reporting and appropriate referrals to the Safeguarding Unit.
- Manage a small caseload when required and lead on service development projects.
People Management & Development
- Line manage Children's Social Care support staff including supervision, performance management, recruitment and attendance.
- Allocate workloads based on skills, capacity and complexity.
- Mentor and develop staff, students and newly qualified social workers (ASYE).
- Promote a learning culture and identify workforce development needs.
Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, external partners and multi-agency professionals.
- Ensure children and families are actively involved in person-centred assessments and planning.
- Respond to councillor queries and attend committee meetings when required.
Strategic & Operational Contribution
- Contribute to organisational strategy, service improvement and innovation.
- Ensure services comply with statutory legislation, governance, data protection and confidentiality standards.
- Deliver services within budget and promote value for money.
- Ensure safeguarding investigations and operational processes are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
Planning & Decision Making
- Plan, prioritise and review team workloads and case progress.
- Exercise sound professional judgement in complex and high-risk situations.
- Escalate complex issues appropriately and contribute to supervisory decision-making
Essential Requirements:
- Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
- At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
- Social Work England Registration
- Driving license and access to own vehicle
