Telford and Wrekin - Sr. QSW - Family Safeguarding Team
Telford and Wrekin Council is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated to join Senior Social Worker their Family Safeguarding Team.
Location :- Darby House, Lawn Central
Payrate :- £30.57 Per hour (Umbrella)
Key Responsibilities:
- Hold and manage a complex caseload of children and families, including Child in Need, Child Protection, pre-proceedings, and care proceedings.
- Complete high-quality assessments, risk analyses, and care planning to safeguard children and promote positive family outcomes.
- Lead on complex safeguarding interventions, making informed decisions in line with statutory guidance, legislation, and local thresholds.
- Undertake direct work with children, young people, and families to reduce risk, improve parenting capacity, and support sustainable change.
- Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary Family Safeguarding model, alongside adult practitioners, domestic abuse specialists, substance misuse workers, and mental health professionals.
- Provide mentoring, guidance, and informal support to less experienced social workers and newly qualified staff.
- Contribute to case audits, reflective discussions, and quality assurance processes to maintain high standards of practice.
- Prepare detailed, evidence-based reports for child protection conferences, legal planning meetings, and court proceedings.
- Attend and represent the local authority in multi-agency meetings, strategy discussions, and court hearings where required.
- Build effective working relationships with partner agencies to deliver coordinated interventions and improve outcomes for children.
- Ensure all case recording and documentation is accurate, timely, and compliant with statutory and organisational standards.
- Promote restorative, strengths-based, anti-discriminatory, and child-centred practice in all areas of work.
- Support service development and contribute to embedding best practice within the Family Safeguarding Team.
Essential Requirements:
- Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
- At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
- Social Work England Registration
- Driving license and access to own vehicle
