Sefton - Independent Reviewing Officer
Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council is currently seeking an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer(Safeguarding & Quality Assurance) to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working within a well-established local authority.
Role Details:
Location: Trinity Road, Bootle, Merseyside
Pay Rate: £45. 58 per hour (Umbrella)
Key Responsibilities:
- Chair statutory Looked After Children (LAC) Reviews, ensuring care plans are robust, child-centred, and outcome-focused.
- Monitor and review care planning to ensure compliance with statutory legislation, policies, and timescales.
- Promote and safeguard the rights, wishes, and best interests of children and young people.
- Provide independent oversight and challenge where care planning or service delivery falls below expected standards.
- Escalate concerns through formal dispute resolution processes where required to improve outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with social workers, managers, carers, and multi-agency partners to ensure effective care planning.
- Monitor the implementation of decisions and recommendations arising from statutory reviews.
- Contribute to quality assurance by identifying themes, trends, and areas for service improvement.
- Ensure children's voices are heard and meaningfully influence planning and decision-making.
- Maintain accurate records and produce high-quality review documentation in line with statutory requirements.
Essential Requirements:
- Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
- At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
- Social Work England Registration
- Driving license and access to own vehicle
