About the Role
As an Independent Reviewing Officer, you'll play a vital role in ensuring that children and young people receive the highest standard of care and that their care plans are robust, effective, and focused on achieving the best possible outcomes. You'll work collaboratively with professionals, children, and families while providing independent oversight of care planning and safeguarding processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Chair statutory reviews for looked-after children in line with legislation and local procedures.
- Monitor the quality and effectiveness of care planning for children and young people.
- Ensure children's voices are heard and that their views are central to decision-making.
- Challenge delays or poor practice where necessary to promote positive outcomes.
- Work in partnership with social workers, managers, partner agencies, and families to ensure care plans are implemented effectively.
- Escalate concerns where appropriate to safeguard the welfare of children and young people.
Requirements
- Social Work England registration.
- Significant post-qualifying experience within Children's Services.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and relevant legislation.
- Experience chairing reviews and working within statutory children's services.
- Experience supporting, mentoring, or supervising social workers.
- Excellent assessment, communication, and analytical skills.
