We are currently recruiting for a Qualified Social Worker to join the Kinship Team within a well-established local authority in Gateshead.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with children, kinship carers, and extended families, helping to ensure children can safely remain within their family network while achieving positive, long-term outcomes.

Role Details

Position: Qualified Social Worker - Kinship Team
Location: Gateshead (NE8 1HH)
Contract: Ongoing Agency Contract

About the Role

As part of the Kinship Team, you will undertake assessments of kinship and connected persons carers, support children living with family members, and work collaboratively with partner agencies to deliver high-quality, child-focused interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake Kinship and Connected Persons Assessments.

  • Manage a caseload of children and kinship carers.

  • Complete Child and Family Assessments and care planning.

  • Provide ongoing support and supervision to kinship carers.

  • Prepare reports for fostering panels, court proceedings, and statutory meetings.

  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies to safeguard children.

  • Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings and reviews.

  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with statutory guidance and safeguarding legislation.

Requirements

  • Social Work England registration.

  • Significant post-qualifying experience within Children's Services.

  • Experience undertaking kinship, fostering, or children's assessments.

  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and statutory frameworks.

  • Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.

  • Ability to build effective relationships with children, families, and partner agencies.
