Hertfordshire County Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Practitioner to join our Out of Hours Team. This pivotal role requires a passionate individual who can provide high-quality social work services during evenings and weekends, ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable individuals and families. As a Senior Practitioner, you will lead a small team of social workers, offering guidance and support while managing complex cases and making critical decisions in urgent situations.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing expert supervision and support to junior social workers and support staff.
  • Conducting assessments and interventions in crisis situations, ensuring compliance with legal and procedural requirements.
  • Collaborating with external agencies and stakeholders to develop effective care plans.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of casework and interventions.
  • Participating in on-call duties, providing advice and support to team members as needed.

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Significant post-qualification experience in social work, particularly in child protection or adult services.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
  • Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
